Previous Shows
  • 5/10/08 - Loads of guests, mostly ladies, for some reason. Three women from Continental Title Company (Brenda Welsh, Brandy Horner, and Elizabeth Daniel) talked about a hidden but very necessary side of real estate. Jennifer Smith is the Horticulture Agent for the Douglas County K-State Extension Office. John Hay, DDS, made dental matters sound almost pleasant. Chef Palooza talked about breakfasts - one of Jeremy's favorite topics.
In the second hour, Sue Metzger, owner of Olde Mill Auctions in Topeka, gave a fascinating overview of life as a lady auctioneer. Diane Nunemaker talked with Jeremy about what it is like to be a lady trucker. Chef presented recipes for kids to use in making breakfast for Mom on Mother's Day.
  • 5/3/08 - A riotous party of a show. First guest was John Harman, of Pella Windows, then Craig Brown of Realty Executives - Hedges Real Estate. Then Chef and Dan Blomgren, of Cork and Barrel, somehow got into the building bearing several brands of tequila that needed tasting. Mark Zwahl, owner of Z's Divine Espresso, got into the party, and even Hank Booth stopped by.
Things calmed down a bit with Trudy Rice of Douglas County Extension Office, and Teri Smith of Douglas County Emergency Management.
4/26/08 - Guests include Gina Fisch, Perfect Balance Weight Management; Sally Helm, owner of Brits, who brings along teapots and kettles to help Jeremy settle into his new radio station office; Bobbie Flory of the Lawrence Homebuilders Association. Dan Blomgren (Cork and Barrel) brings in white wines and Chef Palooza brings in Grilled Chicken and huge grilled prawns (giant shrimp). Hank Booth pays a visit to give valuable advice. Jeremy and Dale announce a pair of concerts coming up with AC/DC and Led Zeppelin tribute bands Back in Black and Led Zepplica. Next is Frank Male, of Lawrence Landscape, talking about trees and sod, then Chef helps define "organic".

  • 4/19/08 - The big announcement today is that Jeremy will be extending the show into a daily format, starting May 5. More on the new show will come later.Today, though, starts with a Spice Lady. Jayne Chrisjohn and her husband Dave own Slice & Spice Inc, in Spring Hill, Kansas, where they sell spices, knives, and some wicked chocolate. Chef sniffs all the lovely fresh spices, and Jeremy is rendered nearly unable to speak after trying the really spicy chocolate.
Jim Yarrington of Pulaski Bank talks about finance, then
KH, of Habitat for Humanity ReStore is rushed in and out of the studio so that she can get back to work preparing used toilets to march in the Earth Day parade. Chef Palooza talks about his Big-Ass Cookie recipe, and how to make cookies that are crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Like an armadillo, says Jeremy.
After the news comes Kevin Hoppe, from Action Plumbing ((785)843-567
0), gives us some ideas for dealing with plumbing problems. Eric "Tigger" Smith, of State Farm Insurance, contributes some timely (always upbeat) words on insurance against such events as this week's Midwest earthquake. Midge Grinstead, of the Lawrence Humane Society, is back with a sad tale, then Chef interviews regular listener Joe "Big Trout" Johnson, who brings in some of the best grill-smoked salmon ever made, as well as a really good salmon dip.
  • 4/12/08 - He's back, having attended a wedding in Spain and a funeral in the UK, and has a full line-up of guests to chat with. First comes Larry McElwain, of Warren McElwain Mortuary, to compare and contrast funeral procedures in the US with those in the UK. Next are a couple of Majors: Maj. Grant Martin of the US Army, and Maj. Richard Bell of the UK. Maj. Bell, who has a Belfast accent, does his best to speak r e a l l y s l o w l y for us. Chef Palooza and Dan Blomgren (Cork and Barrel) tried out four wine recommendations for summer, despite the snow outside, along with different asparagus recipes.
After the news, Dirk Henderson of Kansas Fencing talked with Jeremy about making great fences. Danny Drungilas, of Allied Contracting,
was quite convincing about the merits of James Hardie cement siding. George Grieb, of Lynn Electric, talked wiring and Jayhawks with Jeremy. Our regular IRS man, Michael Devine, took the time out of the busy early April season to join us by phone - if you still haven't filed your returns, you might try filing an extension.
Chef Palooza returned with our farming expert, Kent Nunemaker, who loves growing vegetables and flowers as well as farm crops.
